Snow in Kyoto

After three weeks enjoying summery weather in New Zealand, I returned to Kyoto to be greeted by a snowstorm. My wife Hiroe and I took the train up to Kurama to enjoy the snow.

Yoshida-jinja Setsubun Matsuri

One of my favorite festivals in Kyoto is the Setsubun Matsuri held at Yoshida-jinja, a short walk from my house. At this matsuri, people burn their old good luck charms and amulets from the previous year.
