Breakfast is a tough meal in Japan: If you want a Western-style breakfast and your lodgings don’t serve it, where do you go? City Bakery is an answer to that question.

Located right downtown on Teramachi-dori, a short walk south of Shijo, City Bakery serves a handy Western breakfast from 8am to 11am for around ¥1,000, and you can add a drink to that for ¥275. They’ve got eggs and toast and a wide variety of pastries.
Later in the day, they serve light meals including burgers, fries, falafel and some deli items.
There’s a small sitting area in back and a couple of small outside tables.
