Edion Kyoto Kawaramachi Main Store

Edion Kyoto is a large electronics and appliance retailer in the heart of downtown Kyoto. For many travelers, the main attraction is the food floors on the 7th and 8th floors.

Right at the corner of Shijo-Kawaramachi, Edion occupies the building formerly occupied by Hankyu Department Store. I sometimes come here to buy something for my phone or camera, but the main reason I come here is to grab a quick lunch or dinner. The food floors here tend to be just slightly less crowded than those at nearby Takashimaya and Daimaru.

I’ve taken my kids for lunch here and we enjoyed some omu-raise (rice-filled omelettes). And, on my own, I’ve enjoyed the sushi here: it’s technically automatic (kaiten) sushi, but really you order it via a tablet and they deliver it to your table or seat. There’s also wagyu, tempura, yakiniku and a café.
