October 2022: Please note Eco and Tech Kyoto Guesthouse has now permanently closed. Please see our Southern Higashiyama page for other places to stay in this area.
A small guesthouse hidden in a residential area in the Higashiyama sightseeing district, Eco and Tech Kyoto is a great value for the money.

Within striking distance of both Northern and Southern Higashiyama, Eco and Tech is a new guesthouse with vaguely green pretensions. It’s located in a former apartment building and the rooms are utilitarian and serviceable. The real selling point here is the price: you won’t find anything cheaper in this part of town.
