Besides the good facilities and amenities, Hostel Kyoto Kizuna in Gojo stands out for its fun guest services like event nights. A decent first choice for first-time visitors to Kyoto who want to mingle with other guests and make friends.

If it’s a hostel you’re looking for, Hostel Kyoto Kizuna is an okay choice. Location-wise, it’s not bad. It’s near Gojo Station and Kiyomizu-gojo Station. This isn’t right in the middle of all the downtown action, but it is close enough by bus or on foot. It also means the area is much quieter than it otherwise might be.

The bunk beds are reasonably comfortable, and more importantly, they’re clean and new. The same can be said of the communal areas. Bear in mind that the shower area can get busy around the evening, when everyone’s back and wanting to use them – the ratio of shower to guest is not the best. But as with most hostels, it’s all about timing! Bring your own toothbrush if you can, as it will cost extra to buy one.

One of the best parts about staying at a hostel is making new friends. Hostel Kyoto Kizuna holds fun cultural events like ‘takoyaki night’ so that guests can mingle with each other. That’s probably one of the best things about this hostel besides the decent facilities. The staff speak reasonably good English too, so communication won’t be a problem. They’re friendly and helpful, too!

Cycling around Kyoto is one of the best ways to explore the city, which is why many hostels and hotels there have begun offering bike rentals. Rent one at JPY700 per day when you’re staying at Hostel Kyoto Kizuna – you’ll save on transport costs and it makes getting around the city a breeze.
Is Hostel Kyoto Kizuna worth the price? That depends – if you’re looking during peak season and there are very few hostel options around, it’s not a bad choice, but it’s also not that much cheaper than a business hotel. Spending a little more elsewhere will net you a private room instead of a bunk bed.
