With its comfortable and relatively spacious rooms, Hotel Resol Kyoto Shijo Muromachi is decent value for money in the mid-range budget category. We like the free coffee in the lobby and super central location!

Located right in the heart of downtown Kyoto, Hotel Resol Kyoto Shijo Muromachi is a well-run boutique hotel offering comfortable and well-designed rooms at very reasonable rates. If you really want to walk from Kyoto Station, you can – it’s about 20 minutes away. The staff are generally friendly and helpful.
Rooms are slightly more spacious than average for Japanese hotels. Twin rooms, for instance, have decent-sized single beds and are big enough for two people plus suitcases. Beds here are comfortable and you’re likely to get a decent night’s sleep.

Don’t expect a palatial experience, but the rooms are clean, comfortable, and come with all the amenities you expect from a hotel of this standard. You can even borrow nail clippers from the front desk – though we might demur and buy our own from the convenience store next door.
One of the best things about this hotel – of which there are numerous similar ones in the city – is its super central location. It’s about 3 – 5 minutes on foot from Shijo Station, and there are plenty of great restaurants in the surrounding area. Nishiki Market is also within walking distance. Breakfast is also very decent and has a good selection of Japanese food. Price wise, this hotel is bang for your buck in the mid-range category.
