A modern mid-range hotel conveniently located in downtown Kyoto, Hotel Resol Trinity Kyoto Oikefuyacho offers clean, tastefully decorated rooms in the heart of the city. We love the public bath!

Location-wise, Hotel Resol Trinity Kyoto Oikefuyacho is hard to beat. It’s a short walk from the main Teramachi shopping arcade, as well as Pontocho and the Kamogawa River. It’s also near all the downtown shopping and restaurants. How convenient is that?

Rooms here are completely non-smoking, which is relatively uncommon for Japanese hotels. They’re also just slightly larger than expected for Japanese hotels, though don’t expect them to be palatial. All the amenities that you might expect of a decent hotel, from toiletries to sleepwear and slippers, are provided. Oddly enough, you can also borrow nail clippers from reception.

As a reasonably new hotel, the fittings and furnishings are still well-kept. A special mention must go to the tasteful decor. We especially like the blend of Japanese-Western elements in the room, such as the tatami mat flooring paired with beds. It’s great if you want a traditional feel to your room, but can’t really handle sleeping on the floor!

We particularly like that this hotel has a public bath. It’s gender-segregated, and a nice introduction to Japanese bathing culture. It’s free to use for hotel guests, and we recommend making full use of it at the end of every day – you’ll need it for unwinding after a long day of exploring and walking around Kyoto!

One minor gripe is that breakfast – while perfectly decent – is exactly the same, day in and day out. If that bothers you, skip the breakfast and check out some of the cafes and bakeries nearby. That being said, the restaurant is pretty good for dinner if you don’t want to head out in the evening!
