Kamiji Kakimoto is one of the best washi (traditional Japanese paper) stores in Kyoto. For a limited time, you can check out their products in this beautiful machiya on Fuyacho-dori.

We love the main branch of Kamiji Kakimoto on Teramachi-dori (downtown, near the Kyoto Gosho), and we really love this “pop up” branch on Fuyacho (central downtown). It’s in a lovely old Japanese shophouse and it’s really the perfect place to peruse the beautiful washi products on display. We’re not sure how long this branch will stay open, but definitely check it out while you can.
