If you fancy a meaty and filling lunch near Kinkaku-ji Temple, then take the short walk south to Kinkakuji Itadaki. It’s a welcoming place that specializes in “yoshoku” (Japanese versions of Western dishes).

If you’re a fan of tonkatsu, Japanese beef, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and other such umami-packed creations, then you’ll be very happy at Itadaki. They serve filling set meals at lunch and dinner, which you can choose off of an English picture menu (which is also displayed out front). Due to their location, they’re very comfortable with foreign diners and they’ll really make you feel at home.

To get to Itadaki from Kinkaku-ji, just walk south on the road in front of the temple (Kinukake-no-Michi). It’s about 70 meters down the road, on the opposite side.
