Len Kyoto Kawaramachi is one of the coolest and most sociable hostels in the city. It’s a short walk of downtown in a very interesting neighborhood with some great restaurants and bars. It’s a great choice for backpackers and solo travelers.

When you walk by Len on the street, you’ll probably think it’s a cool café, restaurant or bar. Actually, it’s all of those things, with a nice hostel/guesthouse built above it. There are a combination of private rooms and dorm rooms and they’re all fine.

We really like the location of Len. It’s on Kawaramachi, between Shijo and Gojo streets. So, it’s convenient to the real downtown core, which starts at Shijo. If you stroll along Kawaramachi or dip into the side streets nearby, you will find all kinds of hip new bars, shops and restaurants. In fact, this is one of Kyoto’s most up and coming neighborhoods and by the time you read this, they’ll be a few more cool spots to check out.
