One of the best family-friendly apartments in Kyoto, the Mimaru Kyoto Nijo Castle can handle families or groups of up to 8 people in comfortable rooms with separate sleeping and living areas.
One-room family apartment
Mimaru Kyoto Nijo Castle At A Glance
- Great for: families, small groups, couples
- Strong points: apartment-style suites, separate bedrooms and living rooms, multiple bathrooms, in-room washers and dryers
- Sample rates: from US$200 to $800 per night
Located on Horikawa-dori, a short walk south of Nijo Castle and the Tozai subway line, the Mimaru is designed for traveling families or groups of friends and they’ve thought of everything. You’ll certainly appreciate the separate bedrooms after a day of taking the kids around town – they can watch a video while you get some quiet time. And having two bathrooms in the suite will really speed things up when people are getting ready in the mornings.
One-bedroom family apartment living area
The location is a bit out of the way, but it’s really only about 15 minutes’ walk to the subway or to downtown. And, because the hotel is not right downtown, the rates are significantly cheaper than at other hotels in this price range. Indeed, they’re also cheaper than other iterations of the Mimaru chain here in Kyoto.
In-room washer/dryer
If you’re traveling with your “team,” you’ll really love this place. It’s the hotel I wish existed when I was traveling with my kids.
