Moxy Kyoto guest room
If you don’t mind staying out of the city center, you can save a lot on accommodation. The Moxy Kyoto is a great example of this. Rates here are lower than similar hotels downtown and it’s a great value for those with a tight budget. The location isn’t all that bad: there are a few restaurants and shops about, and you’re right across from the JR Line, which will take you to Kyoto Station or Arashiyama in minutes. It’s also on the Tozai Subway Line, which will get you downtown and to the Southern Higashiyama sightseeing district in 10 or 15 minutes.

Moxy Kyoto restaurant/bar
The rooms here are pleasant and relatively spacious. They’ve got everything you need for a few nights in the old capital. There’s a nice restaurant/bar in the lobby and there’s even a small gym, which is rare in this price range.

So, if you’re willing to sacrifice a bit of convenience for lower rates, you should definitely give the Moxy at look.
