Nishiki Sushi Shin is located right in Nishiki Market. It’s a good mid-range sushi place geared mostly to foreign tourists (but don’t write it off because of that). It’s a nice place for a decent sushi lunch or dinner while in the area.

We were amazed when this place popped up in Nishiki Market, but the owners know what they’re doing: no other part of town offers such a guaranteed stream of customers. As you’d expect for a tourist spot like Nishiki, most of the diners here are foreign, but they keep the standards pretty high and the sushi is actually quite good.
Also as you’d expect for a place in this location, you’ll have to wait on line to get in during peak lunch hours and early dinner hours (it actually closes at 6pm, as do most places in the market, so you’ll have to get there by 5pm to enjoy dinner).
While this may not rival some of the Michelin-starred sushi places in Tokyo, it’s a step up from automatic sushi and it’s a good place to try good sushi without blowing the bank (sets range from ¥2200 to ¥6000).
