Located directly in the heart of downtown Kyoto, the spacious and stylish Gate Hotel Kyoto by Takasegawa is a superb value that feels like a luxury hotel, but with mid-level rates.

The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takesegawa by Hulic
Opened in 2020, the Gate Hotel Takasegawa enjoys one of the best locations in Kyoto. It’s named for the Takasegawa Canal, which runs along its eastern edge. Steps from the east exit is the Kiyamachi nightlife district and the impossibly atmospheric Pontocho Lane and geisha district. And, steps from the west side is Kawaramachi, one of Kyoto’s main shopping streets (beyond which you’ll find Nishiki Market). There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops within just a few minutes’ stroll from the hotel. And yet, once you enter the hotel, you’re in a calm oasis.

The views from the rooms on the upper floors and restaurants are fantastic, and you’ll no doubt want to enjoy either the sunrise or sunset while you’re staying there.

For rates that are much lower than comparable hotels in other parts of the city, you’ll find the Gate Hotel Takasegawa perfect for a comfortable stay in Kyoto.
