The Glanz Kei Kyoto Station is the best budget/mid-range hotel for families. I don’t know how they manage to offer so many features so close to the station at these prices but they do, and that’s all that matters. If you’re traveling with kids and don’t want to break the bank, book this place now!

Family room type A plan and pictures.
There are several hotels in Kyoto that specialize in family rooms and suites, but most of them are firmly in the luxury price range. That’s why the relatively new Glanz Kei Kyoto Station is so welcome: It offers all the features that families need in a hotel – en suite laundry, room for up to six people, cooking facilities, convenient location, etc – for rates that are frequently in the budget range and only creep up into the mid-range during peak seasons.

Family room type A laundry and bathroom facilities.
The family rooms here come with two double beds and a tatami room where you can put futons down for additional family members (and if you wish, you can put the kids in one room and you sleep in the master bedroom for privacy). And, there are common areas with cooking and dining facilities, which is great – there’s a feeling of space that is lacking in standard hotel rooms.

Family room type B tatami room.
The best thing of all is that the Glanz Kei is an easy 5-minute walk from the south exit of Kyoto Station, so it makes a good base for exploring Kyoto and the rest of Kansai. No need to grab that taxi when you first arrive – you can easily walk there even with suitcases. And, here’s the real beauty point: Glanz Kei is right next to AEON Mall, which is chock-full of great family friendly restaurants and shops. Trust me, I’ve traveled a lot in Japan with my family and I know a good family-friendly hotel when I see one and Glanz Kei is the real deal – book it now while you can!
