Takashimaya Department Store’s basement flood floor vies with Daimaru Department Store’s basement food floor as the best food floor in the city. Like its counterpart at Daimaru, the place is crammed with delicacies of all kinds, and the selection of prepared food and traditional Japanese sweets is particularly good. Pair this with a visit to nearby Nishiki Market and you’ll get a real insight into the richness and variety of Japanese cuisine and the ingredients that go into producing it. Needless to say, exploring this food floor and nearby Nishiki Market, is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon in Kyoto.
